Highly competitive compensation package
Join an elite technology and research group at the forefront of global finance, where world-class engineering and quantitative research converge to solve some of the most complex problems in any industry. Their teams are composed of passionate problem-solvers who operate in a dynamic, large-scale IT environment. We are seeking a visionary engineer to architect and build the next generation of the firm's core Linux infrastructure, enhancing automation, scalability, and resilience across the enterprise.
The Role
We are seeking a deeply experienced Linux Systems Developer, a crucial and hands-on role for a hybrid systems and software engineer who thrives on building robust, automated platforms at scale. You will be a key technical leader responsible for architecting and engineering the foundational Linux systems that underpin the firm's diverse technological operations, from research computing to core business services. You will act as a force multiplier by leading high-impact infrastructure projects, mentoring other engineers, and setting the standard for technical excellence in platform design and automation.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and execution of high-impact projects focused on building and evolving the firm's core Linux infrastructure, including on-premise and cloud environments.
Architect, build, and maintain mission-critical platform tools and automation primarily in Python or Go to improve operational efficiency, deployment velocity, and system resilience.
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex Linux systems issues, diagnosing and resolving deep technical challenges related to system design, configuration, automation, and integration.
Drive the architecture for the next generation of the firm's Linux platform, making key design decisions for production environments, including cloud strategy and integration.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Networking, Security, Database, SRE) to deliver cohesive and robust infrastructure solutions.
Mentor and guide other engineers, championing best practices in software development, infrastructure-as-code, and platform reliability.
Your experience
6+ years of experience in a senior platform engineering, infrastructure, site reliability, or software engineering role with a track record of success in complex, large-scale environments.
Expert-level proficiency in Python or Go, with a proven track record of engineering libraries, tools, or platform components (not just scripting).
Deep, hands-on expertise with the Linux operating system, including systems administration, troubleshooting, and automation in a large-scale environment.
Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring other engineers.
Strong knowledge and practical experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience designing and managing infrastructure in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences and collaborate across teams.
