ROLE SUMMARY:

Pfizer is looking for a senior leader of Data Science, leading this function across all commercial analytics verticals. Reporting to the Head of Global Commercial Analytics, this person will be responsible for leading data science and machine learning across all of Commercial/Biopharma ensuring best in class methodologies and deliverables across the entire data journey from Descriptive to Predictive analytics.

Data based decisioning is at the heart of what we do, from optimizing go-to-market strategy and marketing to ensuring our sales teams are equipped with the most relevant and helpful information to power their discussions with providers. We are seeking an experienced senior leader to manage and grow a team of data scientists & machine learning professionals to design, develop, and field analyses and tools that have direct and measurable impact to customers and business outcomes.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about building analytics practices and machine learning tools to solve complicated business problems and deliver on our strategies. You will work cross functionally with the CMO, business leaders to empower decision-making with high speed and scale and accelerate marketing transformation. You will also partner with the Digital Engineering team to drive enterprise AI strategy and industrialize ML/AI solutions.

You are self-directed with a wide range of technical skills and are highly proficient in turning data discoveries into analytical insights and products that drive business and customer outcomes. This role is meaningful tactically and strategically and requires a mix of high-level leadership and deep experience directing the activities of a highly applied and deliverables focused team. Can be hands-on if needed leading advanced analytics and applied Machine Learning solutions using various supervised and unsupervised ML procedures to help drive incremental revenue.

You will lead a team of 100+ colleagues including marketing analytics; business aligned teams and an offshore COE.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role is accountable for delivering data science driven insights & solutions for all of commercial and will partner with senior functional leads for Insight and Strategy, Analytics Engineering, Market Research, Analytics Governance to develop and implement models, insights, and data products that drive each brands’ strategic priorities.

  • You are a top-tier data scientist with significant experience in forming teams, organizing analytical processes and workflows, and mentoring/developing the managers what work on your team as well as junior team members.
  • You are a hands-on leader who has demonstrated the ability to hire, build and develop high performing teams to meet the needs of a highly dynamic and complex business.
  • You have a passion for applied empirical analytics and answering hard questions with data, and the demonstrated ability to conceptualize, promote and implement business insights.
  • You have the ability to use advanced machine learning techniques for driving highly applied analyses and tools to directly drive revenue and optimize resources.
  • You have experience building and leading enterprise team to develop end-to-end ML/AL solutions and application at large scale in the Cloud.
  • Have a strong passion for conceptualizing, documenting and deploying complex analytical plans to take on business problems.
  • Confirmed collaboration, executive communication and storytelling skills with ability to adapt and connect across a variety of audiences. This includes strong writing and data visualization skills with the ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to senior executives.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the focus areas to understand business goals, consult on data strategies and produce repeatable outcomes
  • Partner with the digital engineering team to develop functional AI/ML roadmap and enterprise AI strategy.
  • Handle econometric analytics projects through all phases, including data quality, data modeling, statistical analysis, data visualization and presentation of results and deliverables.
  • Leading ongoing and ad-hoc analyses and predictive analytics to provide leadership with actionable insights at tactical and strategic levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in data science/machine learning and 10+ years' managerial experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree in Applied Econometrics, Statistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Ph. D is highly preferred
  • You have expert level knowledge of applied regression techniques including, but not limited to: Linear, Logistic, Mixed models, Time Series, General Linear Models & Simultaneous Equations. You also have experience in the use of Neural Network models for sales forecasting and GAN models.
  • Expertise in statistical data analysis and mathematical methodologies for unsupervised & supervised learning algorithms.
  • Expertise in a wide variety of techniques such as neural nets, deep neural nets, boosted trees, support vector machines.
  • Algorithm development in graph mining and social network analysis is a plus
  • Conceive and coach the design of end-to-end scripted analytics solutions using SAS, SQL/TeraData as well as modern analytical systems in Spark + Hadoop/Databricks/Snowflake with Python.
  • Demonstrated mastery of all aspects of the data pipeline including data storage systems (both relational and noSQL), modern ETL, aggregation/projection strategy, SDLC in data engineering, and performance optimization.
  • Be a self-starter, driven, accountable and a high-energy leader.
  •  Background in healthcare, Pharma, or health payments analytics experience.
  • Experience in B2B and/or B2C marketing is a plus.

    The annual base salary for this position ranges from $280,400.00 to $467,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
