General

The Fixed Income Systems Software Development Intern will be part of the Fixed Income Development team in the Front Office IT Tower, which develops and maintains proprietary software to support trading of Fixed Income instruments.  This position is responsible for working closely with the Development Manager, and participating in weekly intern cohort programming; they will also collaborate with other interns on a group project.

Role Description:

As the software development intern you will assist the FI Dev team in the planning and execution of both application infrastructure and development.  This internship will be hands on.  You will be involved in discussions and processes for multi-million-dollar decisions.  A general understanding of Front Office systems, preparation of documentation, spreadsheets & presentations to enhance executive reporting capabilities are part of the role.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Development Team leads within Fixed Income Front Office Technology to support trading platforms
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting incidents, requirements gathering, developing test plans for enhancements and new modules 
  • Take part in project meetings: scope review, test planning, release scheduling, and delivery prioritization
  • Recognize process improvement opportunities and deliver them with automation, wherever applicable

Job Knowledge Requirements:

  • Programming skills in Java or Python
  • Experience with Linux command line and common Linux tool
  • Knowledge of SQL

Qualifications:

  • Current students with an expected graduation date of May/June 2027
  • All majors accepted; Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Web development and computer programming majors are preferred

Salary: $35 / hr
