We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) to join our Advertiser Experience Frameworks team to lead development of the Amazon Ads agent experience on the Amazon Ads Console

As an SDM, you will be responsible for delivering Ads Agent experiences that hundreds of thousands of advertisers use to manage their advertising strategies on Amazon. You will bring deep technical expertise to integrate Ads Agent chat experience into many parts of the Amazon Advertising Console and build scalable solutions that adapt to advertiser needs. Your contributions will directly lead to more intuitive experiences, improved advertiser productivity, and innovative features that leverage agentic capabilities across our platform. Great candidates for this role will have strong communication skills and know how to work collaboratively with teams across time zones. They should have experience building scalable web applications, system design, and integration of distributed services. Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and technical design reviews.
Collaborate with partner engineering teams to design and implement integrated agentic solutions.
Manage team roadmap and execution, balancing technical debt with feature delivery.
Build and maintain scalable systems that can support hundreds of thousands of advertisers.
Own delivery of technical solutions that improve advertiser experience through agentic/chat capabilities.


A day in the life
A day in the life
As an Amazon SDM, your day typically involves balancing technical leadership with people management. You might start your morning with your team's standup, unblocking critical issues and ensuring progress on key product features. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with product managers to refine requirements for upcoming agentic experience capabilities, while working with your engineers on technical design reviews and architecture decisions.

You'll spend time mentoring engineers, reviewing pull requests, and ensuring your team's services maintain high availability as they serve agentic experiences to hundreds of thousands of advertisers. Cross-team collaboration is key - you'll sync with partner teams to align on integration points and shared services, whether that's discussing API contracts or planning joint deliverables.

Part of your day involves monitoring system health, analyzing performance metrics, and making data-driven decisions to improve the platform's scalability and reliability. You'll also focus on team growth and development, conducting 1:1s with team members, providing technical guidance, and helping engineers advance in their careers.

Strategic planning is another crucial aspect - you'll work on technical roadmaps, capacity planning, and making architectural decisions that enable the team to deliver agentic experiences at scale. Whether you're diving deep into a technical challenge with your engineers or collaborating with leadership on strategic initiatives, you'll be focused on building systems that make our Advertising Console more intuitive and efficient through deploying agentic/chat experiences.

About the team
We are a seasoned, tenured team of about 35 engineers that are building the next generation of frameworks as we move the Amazon Ads Console to an agentic experience.

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
