Software Engineer/hedge fund

A successful midsize multi-strategy hedge fund is looking to add a Software Developer to its core technology team.

This position involves extensive collaboration with trading, investment and research teams working directly with technologists, quantitative researchers and investment professionals to build the data and technology infrastructure supporting research and trading across the firm.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop scalable systems for acquiring, processing and accessing large financial datasets.
• Build and improve databases, data pipelines and internal research/trading tools.
• Partner with quantitative researchers to make data more accessible and useful for investment research.
• Develop automated solutions supporting data infrastructure, trade processing and reporting.
• Build reusable software components that can be leveraged across various investment teams.
• Improve existing systems, automation, documentation and development processes.
• Contribute to the continued evolution of the firm’s overall data architecture.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python development experience, particularly involving data processing, analytics or data-intensive applications.
• Solid experience with relational databases and modern cloud/data technologies.
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work closely with developers, quants and investment professionals.
• Strong educational background in comp sci or related; MS degree a plus.

Prior hedge fund experience is helpful but not essential. More important is solid educational background, strong software development abilities and an interest in working close to quantitative research, markets and the investment process.
